We have a great summer opportunity coming up on July 11th for kids ages 5-12 who are interested in soccer!

Dogs Available for Adoption as of June 9th, 2025:

Notes from the Mayor
June 5, 2025
I hope the summer is going well for you. The city of Cimarron has been busy, and many good things are happening. Summer ball programs have begun and the numbers of kids participating is good. You might want to go to the park and watch the kids as they play their games. It’s free and the park looks great.
Another summer activity is the city pool. It is open and other than some poor weather for swimming it’s a good place to be and free for residents of the city. We also got the slide repaired in time for the season.
Updates to the city infrastructure include laying asphalt on some streets in the north part of town. Soon the crews will be in town to seal the streets, a yearly activity for ¼ of the town that keeps the streets from disintegrating. Another yearly project is the painting of the lines and specific parking areas that help the traffic flow and make access easier to businesses downtown. It will be unhandy for us, but they plan to get it done quickly and with as little disturbance as possible. The mowing crews have also been hard at work, as the rain allows. There are a lot of areas that the city crews are responsible for including the park, the pool and airport. It takes a lot of machinery and crew time to keep these areas looking nice and safe.
Speaking of mowing, we certainly have noticed and greatly appreciate the effort that our residents have put into keeping their private property looking good. It’s difficult for some to have the equipment necessary to do this and if you don’t have a mower, the cost to get a yard cut can be very high. If you have difficulties keeping up, let the Ordinance Officer know and he can perhaps help with this.
The City Library has a lot going on this summer. There are programs for the youngest of our citizens as well as the more mature of us. Make a plan to stop by and visit Ash and the staff as they work to provide you with whatever service you might need. They probably have a solution for you.
Good news! The grant that was written for recreations programs in Cimarron was approved and we are going to have a pickleball court in Cimarron. There are a few different locations where the court can be place and conversations are ongoing at this time.
It has been exciting to see Casey’s building go up. The word is that they hope to have it open by August. We are happy to have them pick Cimarron for the store and it will be a great addition to the Cimarron economy
As many of you would have noticed, the pool had to be closed for a few days. A leak had been discovered as the water level was dropping at an astonishly high rate, 62,000 gallons a day! It turns out that a connection had failed and it was beginning to wash away the foundation of the soil underneath, potentially decreasing the stability of the pool. When it was repaired, a pressure test was completed and it seems the patch has held. Please give a big thanks to the crew who stayed late and worked tirelessly with the professional from Carruthers who worked to get this open quickly. It’s amazing that the pool was only closed 3 days – it could have been weeks. Thanks to you all for your patience and understanding.
We have a new program - Adopt a dog. We have several very nice dogs who have been surrendered by their families. We now have a process whereby you can adopt one of these dogs. If you need a pet or are willing to care for one of these dogs, please stop by the City office and check into helping.
