Community Development Office and other organizations in Cimarron have been working hard to bring events to our community. Rooster Roundup is currently going on and will last till January 31, 2023. Kurt Werth, Gray County extension agent and I released 25 banded birds in various Walk-In hunting areas around the county. If you shoot a rooster with a band, please contact Erin at (620)855-2507 for more information on how to turn in your band for prizes. Shop Small Business Saturday is quickly approaching, it will take place on Saturday, November 26th, 2022. Shop Small swag bags will be going out to all businesses and a game board will be available for individuals to play for prizes, please see the Community Development Facebook page or contact Erin at (620)855-2507 with any questions. This year Hometown Holiday has been brought back to Cimarron; this event has not happened since 2019. Thank you to Rotary Club, Lions Club, Gray County Extension Office, First Christian Church, Cimarron Library, White’s Foodliner, and Cimarron Chamber for helping organize this event again. We have many things planned for this special event on Saturday, December 3rd, 2022. The list of events for the day are as follows:

- 11-1PM -- SOUP LUNCH at FIRST CHRISTIAN CHURCH
- 11-2PM -- CLYDEDALES & CARRIAGE RIDES at WHITE'S FOODLINER
- 1PM - 4PM -- BINGO at GRAY COUNTY REC CENTER
- 4PM -- DOWNTOWN SHOPPING on MAIN STREET
- 4PM -- MOVIE FOR KIDS at CIMARRON CITY LIBRARY
- 6PM -- TREE LIGHTING and CHRISTMAS CAROLERS at SMALL PARK SOUTH OF CITY HALL
There is also a business decorating contest, voting will be taking place from Saturday, December 3rd through Friday, December 9th, 2022, and includes a prize for the winning business, for more information on this please contact Erin at (620)855-2507. Community Development has also brought back the Christmas resident holiday decorating contest, for more information contact Erin at (620)855-2507 as there are prizes for the winners of the contest. We are working on the possibility of bringing in a guest speaker at the beginning of the 2023-2024 school year, but do not have the details completed at this moment.
